What is the ObGyn Residency Knowledge Bank?

The ObGyn Residency Knowledge Bank is a learning resource repository designed to enable the sharing of quality educational resources between all members of the graduate medical education community. The ultimate goal of the Knowledge Bank is to improve resident knowledge and understanding of core residency curricular objectives in Obstetrics & Gynecology.


Who established the Knowledge Bank?

The Knowledge Bank was established by Francis S. Nuthalapaty, MD, who is currently a faculty member of the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center. Dr. Nuthalapaty has had a long-standing interest in medical education and applied informatics.


What does the Knowledge Bank contain?

The Knowledge Bank contains electronic resources designed to facilitate teaching, assessement, and self-directed learning. Currenlty, this content includes summaries of the topical content from the Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics & Gynecology (CREOG) Test Item Summary booklet in addition to several curricular tools and faculty development seminars.


Who can contribute to the Knowledge Bank?

The Knowledge Bank is open to contributions from any individual or institution which has educational resources which address any of the Core LCME or ACGME competencies. Thus far, the Knowledge Bank has received contributions in the form of Test Item Summaries from the ObGyn Residency programs at PennState University, the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center. In addition, the Knowledge Bank also contains several faculty development seminars conducted by Dr. Nuthalapaty.


Should I use the Knowledge Bank?

In this era of rapidly advancing medical knowledge, and duty hour limitations, educators and learners must examine their curricula to determine which elements will best prepare their graduates for today's scope of practice. Therefore, the ObGyn Knowledge Bank was created to help all educators and learners gain access to the best learning resources. However, it is not known to what extent use of the Knowledge Bank will contribute to your knowledge or understanding of the core curricular objectives in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
