Educators are by nature innovators. The continuing expansion of knowledge drives creativity in curricular design and content. Innovation also provides opportunities to study whether new approaches to teaching yield the desired learning outcomes. This workshop is designed to provide participants an overview of how they can incorporate research methods into the design and evaluation of curricular interventions. The session will progress from the basic concept of developing a research question, to converting that question into a hypothesis, and finally to selecting the most appropriate study design to test that hypothesis.

Learning Objectives

  2. Understand the characteristics of a good research question/li>
  3. Understand how to convert the research question into a hypothesis
  4. Understand how to select the most appropriate study design to test the hypothesis
